“Customers can port their mobile number or to change the Sim. Porting a mobile number means transferring a mobile service from one carrier to another.
As a provider of mobile services, we have a range of measures in place to prevent unauthorised changes to customer service such as these.
(a) To protect customer services from unauthorised porting, additional identity verification processes are used to verify the identity of the person making a porting request, prior to the mobile service number being ported.
(b) If as a customer you suspect that your mobile service number has been fraudulently ported, you should immediately report the activity to:
(i) the Australian Federal Police or the relevant State or Territory Police; and
(ii) You should also immediately report that activity to Scamwatch or IDCARE”
